Michael J Kolk

Throughout his career Michael Kolk has established himself as one of Canada's most accomplished classical guitarists. He has performed at festivals and concert halls throughout North America and Europe, and has released eight albums on labels such as Naxos, Alma Records, and Deosonic Music. Selections from these albums have received frequent radio play in Canada and the US

He has collaborated with musicians in both classical and popular genres, including a long standing partnership with Drew Henderson as the HK Guitar Duo. Michael made his debut with orchestra as a soloist with the Toronto Philharmonia and has also performed with the Canadian Opera Company, Opera in Concert, Tapestry Opera, and CineConcerts, among others. Michael's latest solo album "20th Century Guitar Sonatas" features lesser know works by Cyril Scott, Antonio Jose, Ferdinand Rebay, and Carlos Guastavino and presents a sample of the wide variety of music composed for guitar in the 1900's.
